First mentioned as a principal ingredient in the holy anointing oil, Myrrh formed part of the gifts brought by the wise men from the east, who came to worship the infant Jesus.
Also used in Chinese medicine, Myrrh has a woody, smoky, sweet smell. The word myrrh comes from the Arabic word “murr” meaning bitter.
